Kodak Moment #97

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is on the set of Ninja Turtles: The Next Mutation.

My Useless VHS Collection

For what possible reason do I have to keep a collection of the 1987 series Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles VHSs? They are not collector’s items, so they are worth no more than a few dollars a piece and can even be found for as little as 99 cents. Every single episode has been collected in a digital format that takes up way less space and has better audio and video. I even have the digital media files on a hard drive connected to a streaming device. I can even find it on YouTube, but the catch here is that you have to find a way to adjust the aspect ratio as they are often uploaded in 16:9 and the turtles are already short and stout enough as it is.

Rise of the TMNT : Michelangelo's Design

The internet exploded shortly after the designs for the Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series was released in February.  As fans of all ages found themselves split down the middle upon the new look and feel for the Ninja Turtles, as there’s no question that this is a road they’ve never been on before.  I tried to write one story that would include my thoughts on the Facebook Live, designs, show overall and even the toys.  But it got long and hard to write, let alone read.  Which brings me here, where I’m going to give a short write up about each of the things revealed about “Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.  Let’s talk about Michelangelo and his new design.

Everything Has Its Time and Place

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been a Turtles’ fan and for almost every stage in my life, there has been a series running for me to enjoy. Like most people born in the 80s, I was raised on the 1987 cartoon. As a preteen, I rushed home after school to watch The Next Mutation’s attempt at a live-action show (still a guilty pleasure for sure). I was overjoyed when our thirst was quenched by the underrated 2003 Fox cartoon. For five years, I religiously watched every episode of the 2012 Nickelodeon series. And while I have my reservations about some of the designs for the new 2018 Nick series, I’m very hopeful to see new life breathed into the franchise.
