Kodak Moment #56

I got hundreds to thousands of photos through my life.  A lot of which would match up to stories here on Cowabunga Corner, but for one reason or another they are not chosen.  This does not mean that these photos are not worth sharing and do not hold stories of their own.  I would like to keep sharing what I can here on the site, so whenever I can I will share a photo and a story to go along with the photo.  If it’s a part of events that has been shared here, we will link back to the stories of the events themselves as well.  Hope everyone enjoys.  Today’s photo is my mom in my bedroom at the old family home.

I like to change up the look of my room from time to time.  True it kept the Ninja Turtles theme, but other things would often be added in.  With this bedroom design, I have a lot of photos of my Grandma on my mirror, surrounded by a drawing I did of me with the Ninja Turtles around me.  I did that drawing in my Senior year of High School.  As my teacher asked me to do a drawing of myself, with the Turtles.  I hated drawing people faces, as I never liked drawing noses.  While doing this drawing, I learned that hands were not that easy either.  Around the wall and desk, you can see mainly TMNT collectables including Jaffa Cakes dating this photos around 2006, but if you look passed my mother into the Hallway, you see Anime Wall scrolls hanging as I changed it to show some of my other fandoms.

In this photo my mom is checking out all the different photos I had up of her mother.  She came up to see the new design of the room, and this part of the room held her for a bit.  Like me, she was very close to her mother.  We both miss her deeply.  My mother is also a Ninja Turtles fan, so she enjoys seeing other things around the room that brings back some memories of our trips and meetups.

If you look closely at the TMNT products on the desk, you’ll see some art pieces that I made in School.   One of which is a clay Leonardo, which is not painted.  He’s sitting down with his hands on his lap.  This was made in 1996/1997 during my last year of High School.  I never got to finish him, but I do like the look as he is, don’t really feel he needs paint.  Also on the desk, in the right hand lower crower is a Michaelangelo head made of plaster, this is painted.  I made him in Jr. High, 8th grade year.  My Teacher had us put wet plaster in a bag, hold it in our hands till it dries, then turn it into whatever we could.   My teacher was in shock that I was able to turn it into a Ninja Turtle head.

It was a good set up, one I kept for a bit.  The photos remained on the mirror until I had to move everything out of the room.   I really do miss my old room.
